It’s Maison Week!
Gotta hang out w/ Ed the Metaphysical last night at his party Church at St. Ex and we’re both really excited about Maison on Friday. As always, RSVPs on the necessary evil FB are greatly appreciated.
Ed and I will be paying tribute to the late DJ Mehdi on Friday, so expect more or a French hard-electro sound at Maison this month (a la Ed Banger). Basically we want to turn Napoleon into the Paris Social Club.

RIP DJ Mehdi (1977-2011)
In a bizarre accident, one of my favorite DJs passed away today. DJ Mehdi was celebrating his 34th birthday, when reportedly the roof of his Parisian home collapsed.
If you’ve ever been to a Maison, then you’ve undoubtedly heard and been forced to dance to DJ Mehdi. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of DJ Mehdi is his versatility. He’s so good at French House, he’s so good at Hip-Hop, he’s so good at Electro. Even the mixtape he released just 3 days ago covers a wide-range of genres, from tropical to house to hip hop: DJ Mehdi’s Tunisian Summer Mix.
Maison this month is on Friday, September 30th. You can expect to hear lots of DJ Mehdi/Carte Blanche that night. I’ll leave you with perhaps my favorite remix ever:

Maison this month with Mr. Bonkerz
I’m back. And Maison’s back!
Sorry for the lack of posts and tweets recently, but if you hadn’t heard I broke my arm about a month ago so until recently typing and DJing have been tough. But my arm is getting better, and now I’m out of the sling and getting back to my normal routine.
And it’s just in time for Maison. This month, my buddy Matt Lipsit (Mr. Bonkerz) will be throwing down with me at Napoleon. Mr. Bonkerz puts out awesome mixes full of great disco music, and I’m really looking forward to what he’s going to bring to Maison. Check out his soundcloud.

Maison is this Friday!
Napoleon is bringing in extra disco balls to accommodate Bil Todd DJing and the performance by Jason Barnes. THANK GOD! This Maison is definitely going to be a special one, so don’t miss out on the fun.
As always, $5 Champagne glasses will be on special from 10-Midnight, so don’t be late. If you haven’t been in a while, Maison is upstairs now, featuring added cell phone reception and cooler air.

Etiennce De Crécy at U Hall
Chicago is usually a cool summer retreat for me, but as I head there this Saturday, I’m facing equally as hot, if not hotter, weather. Ugh. But what’s worse is that I’m going to miss Maison-favorite Etienne De Crécy’s show at U Hall on Saturday.
From the event page, “Etienne de Crécy was a key figure behind the French capital’s rise as one of the world’s dance music hubs during the 1990s. De Crecy has peddled his talent under several different guises including Motorbass, La Chatte Rouge, and Super Discount. He has also worked closely with French new wave honoraries Air, Alex Gopher, and Phillipe Zdar.”
Should be a really special show, and I definitely recommend you go!
